COMMUNITY RESPONSE PROGRAM
WHO is this for?
Bethesda’s Community Response Program…
…is designed to address the urgent behavioral needs of adults with special needs, over the age of 18. The program is available to those who reside in the regions of Niagara, Brant, Hamilton or Haldimand/Norfolk. Before Community Response Program services can be initiated, the individual must have a local Behaviour Service Provider assigned.
WHAT is provided??
Bethesda’s Community Response Program …
… works collaboratively with the local Behaviour Services Provider, relevant doctors, psychiatrists, and psychologists to enhance direct treatment and stabilization of presenting behaviours. The Community Response Program offers three categories of clinical support:
- In-Home Support is provided for an individual who is living at home with his/her family or in a home operated by a transfer payment agency. A Community Response Program team member (Resource Specialist) will provide observation, programming recommendations, staff/family training, and hands-on implementation of any behavioural programming set forth by the local Behavioural Service Provider.
- Community Response Bed is used when an individual requires treatment or stabilization outside of their home. Placement in a Community Response Bed will be time limited. The Resource Specialist will supervise the day-to-day implementation of the behaviour program in collaboration with the local Behaviour Service Provider.
- Residential Treatment Placement consists of the client being transferred to one of Bethesda’s specialized residential treatment programs for behaviour stabilization. While enrolled in this time-limited option, client programming will be conducted under the direction of Bethesda’s clinical team. Each plan will be adapted to meet the individual’s needs and to prepare them for returning to their community placement. Referring agencies/parties will contribute by attending case conferences and have regular interaction with Bethesda’s behavioural team.
