The diversity and quality of Bethesda’s Day Activity, Recreation, and Leisure Services allows us to encourage our clients in a variety of enjoyable interests and pastimes which are designed to support their physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs.

CHAPLAINCY

WHO is this for?
Bethesda’s Chaplaincy Services…

…touch the lives of any interested client, family member, or staff.

WHAT is involved?
Bethesda’s Chaplaincy Services…

...are responsive to the needs of our clients, their families, and staff for prayer, worship, Bible teaching, spiritual counsel, bereavement support, and caring relationships. Weekly Chapel Services are held at our Fly Road Chapel and all clients, families, and staff are invited to attend.

DAY ACTIVITIES SERVICES

WHO is this for?
Bethesda’s Day Activities Services…

…are for adults with special needs, living in the Niagara or Haldimand region, who are seeking to be integrated into their community through meaningful work and activities promoting dignity, self esteem, self awareness and respect for others.

WHAT is involved?
Bethesda’s Day Activities Services…

...offers a wide range of supports from our three centres located in Thorold, Vineland, and Dunnville including:
  • Life Experience Training focusing on enhancing the individual’s independent living skills and education.
  • Life Experience Integration focusing on integrating individuals into the community with people of their own age and interests. The opportunities in the community are endless and range from socializing to attending special events to taking classes.
  • Employment/Job Skill Training providing support and skill training to individuals preparing them for meaningful work experiences in the community.
  • Contract Work providing eligible individuals with employment offered through local businesses.

DRAMA TEAM

WHO is this for?
Bethesda’s Drama Team…

…is for any individual participating in Bethesda’s services or staff members who are interested in drama and acting.

WHAT is involved?
Bethesda’s Drama Team…

...is made up Bethesda’s clients and staff who perform topically relevant dramas with the purpose of performing throughout Ontario for various churches, organizations, and friends. Expression through drama promotes the gifts and abilities of individuals and builds self-esteem by expressing a message that is equally relevant and meaningful to the players and their audience

RECREATION AND LEISURE SERVICES

WHO is this for?
Bethesda’s Recreation and Leisure Services...

…are available to adults with special needs receiving supports from Bethesda.

WHAT is offered?
Bethesda’s Recreation and Leisure Services...

...recognizes the importance of health, fitness, and fun in the lives of individuals with special needs. Our programs provide diverse opportunities and support so individuals can participate in Bethesda and community activities. We seek to build on strengths as well as encourage new skills and physical capabilities. Some of our activities include walking groups, artistic endeavors, swimming/hydro-therapy, music, pet therapy, and a wide variety of community outings.

MUSIC THERAPY

WHO is this for?
Bethesda’s Music Therapy Services…

…are for adults with special needs who are receiving supports from Bethesda. Music Therapy is available for other individuals or groups residing in Niagara on a fee-for-service basis.

WHAT is involved?
Bethesda’s Music Therapy…

...uses music and musical activities to help promote, maintain and enhance an individual's physical, emotional, social, cognitive and psyhcological development. This provides a setting in which an individual has the freedom to express himself/herself through music by making noise, shouting, using instruments, moving, dancing, singing, and more. Each individual is carefully assessed by the Music Therapist and the treatment team to set person-centred goals and objectives. Goals may include increase in attention span, communication skills, concentration and self-esteem. We hope to encourage participation, creativity, leadership skills, decision making, as well as, promote socialization, interaction, relaxation, and enjoyment.
