Our Commitment to Privacy
Bethesda respects the privacy of everyone who participates in the 25 Acts of Compassion & Collaboration community storytelling initiative. This notice explains how personal information submitted through the campaign will be collected, used and handled.
Information We Collect
When you submit a story, Bethesda may collect information including:
Your name.
Your email address and other contact information you voluntarily provide.
The name and information of the person, family, group, business, school or organization being recognized.
The story and other information included in your submission.
Photographs or other materials voluntarily uploaded with your submission.
Information required to verify a story or obtain additional permissions and consent.
Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive personal information in your submission.
How We Use Your Information
Information collected through this initiative may be used to:
Administer the 25 Acts of Compassion & Collaboration initiative.
Receive, review and evaluate submissions.
Communicate with submitters.
Verify information where necessary.
Obtain additional permissions or consent.
Select 25 stories for recognition.
Share selected stories through Bethesda's communications channels where appropriate authorization has been obtained.
Public Sharing of Stories
Submitting a story does not automatically mean that it will be made public. If a story is selected for potential public recognition, Bethesda may contact the submitter and other individuals featured in the story to verify information and obtain any additional permissions or consent that may be required.
Contact information provided through the submission form will not be publicly shared unless explicit permission has been obtained.
Children and Youth
Bethesda recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy, dignity and safety of children and youth. If a submission includes identifying information, photographs or other personal details about a minor, additional consent from a parent or legal guardian may be required before the information is shared publicly.
Bethesda may choose not to publish identifying information or images where appropriate permissions cannot be obtained.
Photographs
Photographs are optional. By uploading a photograph, the submitter confirms that they have permission to provide the image to Bethesda. Additional written consent or a separate photo or media release may be required before publication.
Information Retention and Security
Bethesda will take reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures to protect personal information collected through the initiative. Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to administer the initiative, meet applicable legal or operational requirements, and support approved communications relating to the selected stories.
